This handheld tool makes weeding your garden so much easier and actually enjoyable. Following old-world techniques and traditional minimalistic design, Master Shin creates high-quality, functional pieces that are also durable works of art and it comes beautifully packaged as shown in the photo.

Slide the weeding hoe under weeds that form rhizomes or runners to uproot the mass which you then can pick up, shake off the soil, and remove the plant and roots.  The pointed tip on this wedge-shaped head can also make furrows or slip into pavement cracks to flick out weeds.

 

Materials: Handle: chestnut or oak wood, sun-dried for years to achieve the right weight and water resistance. Blade: made from the strong spring steel used in the auto industry to prevent warping.
Care Instructions: No need to sharpen before 2-3 years of regular use. After which point, sharpen by hand, using a honing stone. Avoid use on hard surfaces. Wipe clean with soft cloth or use water only. Clean and dry thoroughly to prevent rust. To store, dry and lightly oil the surface.

Master Shin In-Young is the head blacksmith of Master Shin's Anvil and owns the oldest blacksmith shop in South Korea, established in 1845. At 13, he began his apprenticeship and at 17, he became a master, an unprecedented achievement even today. 
In 2016, the Korean government awarded him the title of Intangible Cultural Treasure, recognizing his rare, traditional skills and talent, especially for his invaluable assistance in authentically restoring Seoul's main gate, built during the Chosen Dynasty, over 600 years ago. 
Using a cylinder-shaped Chosen Anvil from the dynasty, he hand-forges his museum-quality tools individually. Following old-world techniques and traditional, minimalistic design, Master Shin creates high-quality, functional pieces that are also durable works of art.
